Update: Three Soldiers Wounded in Bomb Blast in Gaza

Terrorists in Hamas-controlled Gaza early Tuesday morning blew up a bomb and shot at Israeli soldiers, who returned fire.

Three soldiers were lightly wounded, and one of them was flown by helicopter to Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva. The other two were treated at the scene.

The bomb blew up when the IDF was patroling on a road near Kibbutz Nirim, close to the security fence in south central Gaza and near the site of the former Nevei Dekalim Jewish community, which was destroyed in the Israeli government's expulsion of Jews from Gaza in the summer of 2005.

Last week, an Israeli army officer was seriously wounded when a terrorist bomb blew up as his vehicle was on patrol. Despite one of his arms having been blown off, he used his other hand, also wounded, and his face to hold his rifle and fire back.

He is in being treated in Soroka Medical Center, where a commander visited him and the wounded soldier saluted him with his mangled arm.
