IAF Hits Terror Tunnel in Gaza - Arabs with Explosives Arrested at IDF Samaria Head Quarters

IAF aircraft hit a terror tunnel in northern Gaza on Tuesday night, the IDF spokesman said in a statement.

According to the statement, a direct hit was identified and all Israeli aircraft returned safely to their bases.

The attack came in response to high trajectory fire into Israeli territory, said the statement. Earlier Tuesday night, terrorists fired three Kassam rockets at southern Israel. One rocket hit the city of Netivot, while the two others fell in open areas of the Negev.

Miraculously, no physical injuries or damage were reported.

Earlier on Tuesday, terrorists fired two rockets at southern Israel, one in the afternoon and one at about 6:00 a.m. Both exploded in open areas of the Negev, and here, too, no injuries or damage were reported.

Tuesday's rocket attacks followed a wild Simchat Torah holiday in southern Israel, which was targeted by Gaza Arab terrorists with at least 50 Kassam rockets and mortar shells. At least two buildings were damaged, and a significant number of goats were killed when a missile struck a children's animal corner in one kibbutz. A mortar shell also exploded close to a synagogue in a barrage that was fired at about 5:50 a.m. Monday.

The attacks came in response to an Israeli air strike Sunday in Gaza. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said the surgical air strike targeted two Global Jihad terrorists – Tala'at Halil Muhammad Jarbi, 23 and Abdullah Mohammed Hassan Maqawi, 24, as the two were riding a motorcycle.

"The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers and will continue to operate against anyone who operates terror against Israel," said Tuesday night's statement by the IDF. The statement pointed out that the terror organization Hamas, which rules Gaza, is responsible for any terror attacks carried out from the region.

Arabs with Explosives Arrested at IDF Samaria Head Quarters

Two Palestinian Authority Arabs armed with an improvised explosive device were arrested Monday at the entrance to the Samaria Regional Brigade headquarters. The suspects were arrested by a Nahal Brigade force that was in the region.

According to the IDF Website's Florit Shoihet, the suspects were the ones who told the soldiers that they possessed an explosive device. The soldiers then searched the suspect's belongings and found the improvised explosive device, which IDF sappers detonated in a controlled manner. The suspects were subsequently interrogated by security forces.

So far, it is unclear whether the suspects belong to a terror organization, but they said that they had been sent to the Samaria Regional Brigade. The initial investigation indicated that they came from Shechem, which is near the site of the incident.

Last month, suspected terrorists were arrested in eastern Jerusalem, armed with weapons including two explosive devices and improvised rifles. In another event last month, a bag filled with pipe bombs was found and safely detonated near the Hashmonaim checkpoint.
