PA Arab Suspect Killed after Speeding Past Checkpoint

Al-Za'im Checkpoint
This is more than likely an act of martyrdom, so critics can continue condemning Israel for killing PA Arabs "indiscriminately." What critics are bound to deny is that any car trying to escape through border police would be followed and shot if they did not stop. This could happen in any country, and not just in Israel. - Michelle

Border Police killed one Palestinian Authority Arab and wounded two others after their car sped past a checkpoint near Maaleh Adumim, east of Jerusalem around 1 a.m. Monday morning. One policeman also was lightly wounded from shrapnel.

The driver refused to stop and sped past the checkpoint at high speed, raising the suspicion of Border Police, who immediately shot to stop the vehicle.

The driver escaped into a nearby Arab village, and Red Crescent officials shortly afterwards advised police that it was rushing to nearby hospitals with three people, one of them in critical condition - who later died, and the other with light wounds.

Police entered the village and found the car, but the driver had escaped.

Police are investigating to determine if the incident is related to terror or criminal activity.
