Clinton Arrives in Israel

Source: Turkish Weekly

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has arrived in Israel for talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials.

The stalled Palestinian-Israeli peace talks, Egypt's changes, and Iran's controversial nuclear program are expected to top the agenda of Clinton's talks.

Clinton arrived in Tel Aviv after a two-day visit to Egypt, where she met the country's first democratically elected president, Muhammad Morsi, and expressed U.S. support for Egypt's democratic transition.

Clinton also met with Egypt's top military commander, Mohammed Hussein Tantawi, and urged the army to return to more of a security role.

Clinton also was on hand to reopen the U.S. consulate in the port city of Alexandria, where protesters threw tomatoes and shoes at Clinton's motorcade.
