Gaza Terrorist Attack on Farmer in Southern Israel

Palestinian Authority Arab terrorists attacked in the southern Negev Eshkol region on Thursday morning, firing at a Jewish farmer driving a tractor. The tractor's windshield was shattered but the driver was uninjured.

Working in a field near Kibbutz Nir Oz, the farmer's reflexes were fast nevertheless, and he moved quickly. Dropping to the ground, he ducked behind his tractor -- a move that saved his life.

The farmer was subsequently rescued by Israeli soldiers who returned the terrorists' gunfire and evacuated him to safety.

PA terrorist sniper fire along the Gaza border is not new, but the phenomenon has been increasing in recent months.

Earlier this month, Sgt. Netanel Moshiashvili, 21, was shot and killed while his patrol unit clashed with PA Arab terrorist Ahmed Nasser, who infiltrated through the Gaza border.

In May, an IDF officer and a soldier patrolling along the security fence were shot and wounded by a sniper who aimed at them from the central Gaza region. Both were evacuated to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva for treatment.

On Wednesday this week, the IDF facilitated the transfer of 6,616 tons of food stuffs and other goods, including natural gas, into the Gaza region. Among the items shipped into Gaza was one containing 30 tons of candy.
