IAF Hits Terror Tunnel in Northern Gaza

An IAF aircraft hit a tunnel used for terrorist activity in the northern Gaza Strip late Tuesday evening, the IDF Spokesperson’s office reported. A direct hit was confirmed.

The tunnel was intended for infiltrating into Israel and executing terror attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers.

The IDF Spokesperson said the attack came in response to the firing of Kassam rockets at Israeli territory over the past few days. On Sunday, terrorists fired a rocket towards the western Negev. The missile exploded in an open area, causing no injuries or property damage.

“The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers, and will continue to operate with strength and determination against anyone who uses terror against the State of Israel,” the Spokesperson said in astatement. “The IDF holds the Hamas terrorist organization solely responsible for any terrorist activity emanating from theGaza Strip.”

The IAF hit on Tuesday one was the second time in one day the IDF targeted Gazaterrorists. Earlier in the day, IAF warplanes fired a missile at a group of terrorists who were preparing to launch a rocket into Israel.

The latest terror attacks came on the heels of an Israel Security Agency report, according to which there was a decline in the number of terror attacks in June.
