International Christian Zionist CenterHow in the world can you have become this self-destructive, Mr. Derfner, to write so critically at a time of renewed global anti-Semitism - also in its new anti-Zionism form - about those of us who, with all our heart and soul, want to do what we can to help and undergird your threatened nation?
To read your malignant tirade against some of your best friends, seemingly only driven by your personal dislike of the political or religious motivation of their love and support - is foolish in the extreme!
As you would have it, the real threats to the people and character of your nation are not the Ahmadinejads or Hamas, the Hizbollah, the cruel Bashar Assad, or other kindhearted Muslims. No, the ultimate danger to the future character of this state are people like John Hagee, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and many others who would give their lives for your sometimes suspicious and unthankful people.
The same blindness and arrogance tainted the mind set of some of the journalists and elite of the Times of London, even after Czechoslovakia had already been overrun by Hitler's forces - as the Nazi-like ISLAMIC forces may soon overrun your people and country. As late as December 15, 1938, the Times wrote:
"The war-mongers [Churchill and his supporters], those who would make war against another country without having counted the cost, ought to either be impeached and shot or hanged. There has never been a prime minister in the history of England who has in nine months achieved such agreements as those Mr. Chamberlain has made with Czechoslovakia, Italy ... and with Hitler at Munich." [The Times, December 15, 1938]
So what do you prefer Mr. Derfner? The likes of Tom Friedman and others who today, sadly as Jews, are in the forefront, often excusing and belittling Israel's real enemies while simultaneously, like you, castigating Israel's true friends whose political religious sentiments you abhor?
I am not so much offended by your narrow-minded attack upon us, your friends; I am angry because of what you do with your shallow criticism to your own nation's future.
I have traveled the world on behalf of your nation. My children have served in your IDF. I have spoken thousands of times to Jewish, Christian and secular groups, been interviewed on a myriad television, radio and press channels; I have met with Senators, Congressmen and other leaders, have organized symposiums and conferences on behalf of Israel, and then had to read your laughable statement in Thursday 18, 2011 The Jerusalem Post:
"So wackos like Beck and Palin and Bachmann love us - but only as long as we go on fighting their enemies. If we ever make peace with them, our dear, devoted Republican friends will not be amused. Neither will the likes of Danny Danon, of course, so the American Right and Israeli Right have become the closest, most natural of allies.
Incidentally, who, more than anybody else, forged this covenant? Netanyahu, starting about 30 years ago, and along the way gaining the admiration of every major crackpot, Islamophobic evangelical preacher, from the late Jerry Falwell to Pat Robertson to John Hagee and on.
And what the Glenn Beck rally will do is proclaim this covenant in blazing fashion. It will sear into the consciousness of Israelis and Americans, but above all American Jews, what this country now stands for. By showing them who Israel's friends are, it will show them what Israel is.
Who are Israel's friends? Right-wing meshuggenehs. What is Israel? A right-wing meshugge country.
Sheldon Adelson, Morton Klein, Eric Cantor, the Emergency Committee for Israel, the Brooklyner Jews and the rest of the hardasses over there will be buoyant."
Can it be more foolish than this Mr. Derfner - so like the incomprehensible folly of those who, when Hitler and the Nazis were the danger, castigated Winston Churchill as a war-monger that needed to be "impeached, shot or hanged."
Go on, then, with your cynical flair, to ridicule your friends and your own prime minister - who was a proud enough Jew to declare before the joint houses of Congress what every gentile needs to hear, and who has had the foresight and decency in this rotten, self serving, world to distinguish Israel's true friends from Israel's true enemies.
Make fun of them and of him for forming an alliance not based on personal profit or honor, but on what in the end will be of benefit to your mortally beleaguered nation.
