On Sunday, friends and family of the Fogel family gathered since the brutal murder of five members of the family by terrorists on March 11. In Itamar, where the family lived, the cornerstone was laid for what will be a Torah study hall built in honor of the slain Rabbi Ehud (Udi) Fogel. The new study hall will be called Mishkan Ehud.
One of the participants in the memorial for the Fogels was MK Tzipi Hotovely (Likud), who spoke to INN TV’s Yoni Kempinski.
“This place is a symbol of the fact that we’re not going to leave Judea and Samaria,” said Hotovely. “We’re going to be here, we’re going to stay, we’re going to build and we’re going to make those areas stronger.”
Hotovely emphasized that “this is not just about building. It’s about saying in the most official statements: this is legal. We’re doing this not because people were killed. We’re doing this because this is our right.”
Referring to the statement made by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu the relatives of the Fogel family and said, “They shoot, and we build,” Hotovely said that she is against that statement.
“I don’t believe that building is the answer to terror,” she said. “I think that saying out loud and clearly that we’re not going to leave these places and we’re going to make sure that many people will come here is a better way to say that.”
She added that “it’s a very Zionist thing to say that no matter what happens, we’re going to build and we’re going to be more deeply involved in these places.”
