Hamas Opens Second Flank with Media War

Hamas is falsely reporting on alleged Israeli attacks, and then accuses Israel of lying about Arab incursions against Israeli soldiers and civilians.

The terrorist organization, which is the de facto government in Gaza, reported to foreign media late Sunday night that Israel killed one Arab and wounded two others in an alleged aerial strike Sunday night. Hamas reported the victim was a baby, a claim often made after Israeli maneuvers against terrorists.

The IDF said no Israeli planes were flying in the area and that no counterterrorist actions took place. The military previously reported that it launched retaliatory strikes against terrorists Friday and Saturday following rocket attacks on Israel.

While reporting false Israel actions, Hamas also accused Israel of falsely disseminating news of Arab terrorist attacks at the same time Hamas claims it is trying to implement a ceasefire among rival terrorist groups.

The Israeli reports are intended to camouflage "Israeli measures to make Jerusalem Jewish and the construction of settlements in the West Bank,” Hamas officials said.

Despite several ceasefires announced by Hamas, the latest one having  been announced last month, rocket and mortar attacks have continued, along with what has become the routine planting of roadside bombs along the patrol road at the Gaza security fence.

Terrorists have fired at least a dozen missiles at Israeli civilians and soldiers over the past week, including Russian-made Grad rockets, one of whichexploded in Be’er Sheva.

Meanwhile, Israel continues to keep open two Gaza crossings for the transfer of hundreds of truckloads food and merchandise, including 20 motor vehicles.

Taher al-Nouno, spokesman for the Hamas government, told the Chinese news agency Xinhua that Israeli’s military actions in Gaza are “part of the Zionist enemy's nature, where it expresses the internal crisis that the government of Benjamin Netanyahu is passing through and the failure of the peace process."

Abu Ahmad, spokesman for Jihad's armed wing Saraya al-Quds, told Xinhua that Israel is engaging in “psychological war” by emphasizing the sophisticated weapons in the hands of terrorists "in order to justify its military operations against us.”

Terrorists' attempts to attack soldiers continued Monday afternoon, when IDF soldiers spotted a group of terrorists near the fence. Military spokesmen said the cell had been involved in several previous attacks against soldiers.
"The forces fired tanks shells and identified a hit," the IDF said. Gaza sources said one terrorist was wounded.
