Arabic to English translation
from articles in the "Palestine" Press
by Michelle Cohen
Gaza, December 6, 2010 - Palestine Press

Today in a "court" issue from Hamas in the Gaza Strip:
Three (Judea and Samaria) West Bank Arabs are accused of  killing a Hamas member (an Imam by the name of), Imam Mohammed Rafati of Abbas Mosque. The three accused are Jihad Mansour, Juha and Ayman Al-Rush. All three are members of Fatah.

There was no immediate comment by Fatah about the death sentences.

While the "military court" in Gaza (Ahamsawip) sentenced to death (Judea and Samaria) West Bank Arabs accused of collaborating with Israel, others are only imprisoned.

Balance and Conscience Foundation denounces the break-up and detention of peaceful Gaza news crew

The Conscience Foundation for Human Rights and the "Palestinian" Centre for Human Rights denounced on Monday a Hamas resolution to arrest and detain participants of a peaceful protest and the crew of the Al-Jazeera English Press.

Hamas broke up a solidarity protest by volunteers, NGOs and university students in front of the Sharek Youth Forum in Gaza City. Hamas members prevented them from raising banners with slogans of solidarity with the Forum, and abducted 18 youths from the protesters during their departure from the area. Four Al Jazeera English Press staff members had been detained by Hamas: Reporter Nicole Johnston, a Producer named Sami (surname unclear), Photographer Maher Abu-Koota and Assistant Rami Massoud.

Later, the majority of the abductees were released, but three are still detained: Sheikh Yusuf Mohamed Salah, Mustafa al-Ghoul, and Saad Saftawi. Hamas forced the detainees to sign a release form (pledge) which states that the detainees are not to participate in any future Sharek Youth Forum protests, are not to mingle with any girls (women) even under the legitimacy of a relationship, and to pay a fine of 5000 NIS in the case of any terms violation (breach) of the release form.

It is the opinion of the Conscience and Balance Foundation that the wording of the pledge (release form) may not be in compliance with the law. Though this pledge may be prohibited by law, the Bureau for the investigation of this incident is temporarily closed. However, there will be a probe and the Bureau will arrive to a conclusion when the Bureau reopens.

The Bureau stressed that the right to a peaceful assembly is guaranteed under the law. The Bureau demanded the immediate release of kidnapped persons, and to stop calling on those who have already been released. The Bureau intends to hold accountable those responsible for committing violations of the law.

What a fun way to live our daily lives. We can now add another one to our "Rocket Museum"
